Two Final Cars - The Lamborghini Gallardo and the Mini Mk2

Recently Lamborghini produced its final Lamborghini Gallardo. The car, a Rosso Mars coloured Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Spyder Performante rolled off the production line ending the production for this Italian supercar. The Gallardo was first introduced in 2003 and it has been ten years in production with a total production figure of over 14,000 units of the car in various guises.

BMW Mini also produced its final Mini Mk2 recently too. Over one million units of the Mk2 Mini in various guises between 2006 and 2013. That is a whole lot of Minis produced at its Oxford plant in the UK.

Lamborghini has not officially launched the Gallardo replacement as yet but Mini has begun production of the Mk3 Mini and that car will be on sale by Spring 2014.

Notice the differences in production figures. One is a car that you can buy for as low as RM150,000 (brand new Mini One) and the other is a supercar which prices start at RM1.8million. Both prices after tax here in Malaysia (let's not count those grey imports here). The Gallardo had a ten year lifespan and the Mini a very Germanic seven year production life span. Of course Lamborghini is owned by Audi but it is a low volume producer and change does not come easy for them.

Oh. Do note the difference in clothing too.
