Earlier today, BMW Malaysia introduced the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro. This battery electric SUV has recently been given the “World Car of the Year” and “World Electric Vehicle of the Year” 2026. We are getting the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro variant for the moment and this marks the arrival of the "Neue Klasse" portfolio in Malaysia Prices for the new variant starts at RM378,888 before insurance and is now available with a three-month payment holiday before the first instalment begins.
Like recent BMW releases, the Neue Klasse iX3 you see here in the pics represents BMW's latest styling cues for their upcoming range of vehicles. The front is where is differs if you are looking at things from the outside. The sides and rear incorporate design and styling cues which we are already familiar with in terms of BMWs over the past half a decade or so. The main difference in terms of exterior is the front end. The nose now features a smaller BMW double kidney grille rather than one that covers almost all of the front end. It seems the current design is to be a little more subtle and takes its styling after the original Neue Klasse cars from the early 1960s. These original cars started with the BMW 1500 from 1982 is important in that from it originated classic styling like the Hofmeister kink in almost all BMW cars since then. Aside from that, we got the famous 2002 series of cars and actually marks the start of modern BMW as we know it.
Now, this is actually the New Neue Klasse. The front end grille and light setup takes back to these classics but everything else is new and modern. The new front end is subtle, and looks better in the metal compared to in the photos. It seems that BMW cars these days still have that opinion dividing styling when you first set your eyes on it in the photos and then when you see it in real life, it is actually very palatable.
But for me, styling is very subjective. I have no real issue with you guys liking it, or disliking it. What impresses me on this new BMW is that for a BEV, it has a WLTP range of 800km. This is good as it allows you to cruise to Johor Bahru to Kuala Lumpur and most likely back without needing a top up. Or if a top up is necessary, it does mean that you only need a short top up at some external charging station and with something like 20minutes of a charge, you should safely get home after heading on a 350km drive to JB and back. And you can charge the car at home, if you have a wallbox, and safe of charging externally. This shows progress over the first iX SUV EV launched here, which had a range of about 630km for the comparable variant launched today. The performance is now better in every aspect and it can actually drive further, which is always a good thing to me as I prefer home charging to optimise cost.
Inside the new iX3. you also get a very nice user interface with BMW's latest iDrive system. The panoramic instrumentation display - a HUD display through the whole width of the lower part of the SUV's windscreen is indeed impressive. It shows a lot of information yet does not cluttler you with graphics and what not. Even the infotainment screen doesn't fill your face and it of a decent size and not a home theatre. The ambient lighting seems subtle enough to show and the interior feels good to look at. Of course, I do wish BMW would add more physical controls for the air conditioning vents rather than what they're doing in this car.
Benjamin Nagel, Managing Director of BMW Group Malaysia shared:"As the leader in the premium segment of the automotive industry, the BMW Group always sets the benchmark for the segment, changing what you believe is possible for vehicles in the premium segment. In the 1960s, the original Neue Klasse, beginning with the BMW 1500, transformed not only what BMW was capable of but the entire premium segment itself, setting the direction and benchmark for every vehicle in the segment. Today, the New BMW iX3 and the modern concept of the Neue Klasse is that vehicle for this generation. Already named World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle of the Year 2026, the New BMW iX3 is redefining the experience of every BMW and the premium segment itself moving forward.”
He added, "There is a quality to the way the BMW iX3 responds to customers today — from steering input and dynamic driving capabilities to advanced technological capabilities including Artificial Intelligence abilities to Circularity and modern methods and thinking in its creation. This is the Ultimate Driving Machine that will offer nothing but Sheer Driving Pleasure at a level that has not existed before and is best understood from behind the wheel. What makes this moment significant for Malaysia is not simply that this vehicle is here but the future of the BMW brand that arrives with he introduction of the First New Vehicle from the portfolio of Neue Klasse."
The New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro represents the technological leap of the Neue Klasse in its fullest form — 6th-generation BMW eDrive in an 800-volt architecture, the Heart of Joy governing drive power and driving dynamics with responses up to ten times faster than conventional systems, and the BMW Panoramic Vision projecting key information across the full width of the windscreen.
Product Summary
Named both World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle of the Year 2026 by an international jury of 98 motoring journalists, it arrives in Malaysia as a vehicle the world has already recognised as the finest of its generation.
6th-generation BMW eDrive
The New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro is the first production vehicle to feature 6th-generation BMW eDrive technology, embedded in an 800-volt architecture, built entirely around a new understanding of what electric performance can be. At its core is a high-voltage battery using cylindrical cells arranged in a cell-to-pack configuration — achieving a usable energy content of108.7 kWh in a more compact, space-efficient form. The housing of the high-voltage battery is integrated directly into the vehicle body, forming its underbody and resulting in a very low centre of gravity that enhances driving dynamics. Two electric motors, one per axle, deliver a combined output of 345 kW (469 hp) and a maximum torque of 645 Nm. This is channelled via a 1-speed automatic transmission to the BMW xDrive all-wheel drive system, which is biased to the rear in hallmark BMW fashion.
Governing every aspect of drive power and driving dynamics is the Heart of Joy, the high-
performance control unit at the centre of the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro's driving experience. With responses around ten times faster than conventional systems, the delay between input and execution is noticeably reduced to the point where the car feels not like a machine processing commands, but like a direct extension of the driver's intent. The result is directional stability and agility that feel almost effortless in all situations, allowing the driver to unleash the vehicle’s full potential with peace of mind.
In the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro, the two most fundamental acts of driving —
accelerating and decelerating — have been brought to a new level of precision and harmony.
Recuperation accounts for around 98% of all braking manoeuvres on average and can now be used to bring the vehicle to a complete standstill. The stopping process becomes smooth enough that even in stop-and-go traffic, the driving experience remains pleasant and harmonious. The same applies to transitions between acceleration and coasting — imperceptible to the point of being barely noticeable. Reduced brake noise from recuperation-led deceleration further contributes to a level of ride refinement unique in this vehicle class.
Drive Farther, Charge Faster.
With a WLTP range of up to 805 km, the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro raises the bar for long-distance electric capability. The 800-volt architecture enables DC charging at up to 400 kW — adding energy for up to 372 kilometres of range in just ten minutes. The intelligent interconnection of the battery cells ensures full compatibility with 400-volt charging infrastructure, enabling the battery’s considerable 108.7 kWh of energy to be replenished at any time. With a WLTP energy consumption of 17.9–15.1 kWh/100 km and a drag coefficient of 0.24, the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro is the most efficient battery-electric BMW Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) of all time.
The intelligence behind the charging experience is as deliberate as the technology enabling it.
When route guidance is active, the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro prepares the high-voltage battery during the journey, ensuring charging begins immediately at the highest possible rate upon arrival. At charging stations reached via the BMW navigation system, the intelligent charging flap opens automatically when the driver's door is opened, lowers to protect the high-voltage charging socket once charging begins, and closes automatically once the cable is unplugged. Beyond stored navigation data, the system employs AI to recognise previously visited charging points from the vehicles direction of approach — opening the flap automatically, without any input required. This function requires a BMW Digital Key Plus set up and carried on board.
Hands on the Wheel, Eyes on the Road.\
The New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro introduces BMW Panoramic iDrive — a completely new user experience built on a single principle: the right information, in the right place, at the right time.
Where the Heart of Joy governs how the car responds to the driver, BMW Panoramic iDrive governs how the car communicates — ensuring that everything the driver needs is present, and nothing that is not needed intrudes. The result is a driving environment designed not to demand attention, but to sustain it.
At the widest point of that experience is the BMW Panoramic Vision — a 43.3-inch projection that spans the full width of the windscreen from A-pillar to A-pillar. Key driving data appears in the drive's field of vision above the steering wheel, while up to six freely selectable widgets covering navigation, weather, media, and other functions can be arranged across the remaining projection area. The information displayed adapts continuously to the driver and the situation, and remains fully readable with polarised glasses.
Complementing this is the new BMW 3D Head-Up Display, which projects navigation and driver assistance data as a precise, full-colour three-dimensional visualisation into the driver's field of vision. The road layout appears with spatial depth, perspective adapts automatically, and the extended field of view makes key information faster to absorb without looking away from the road.
Anchoring the cockpit is a 17.9-inch Central Display with a novel Free-Cut Design, optimised for touch operation. All control, adjustment, and display functions of BMW Operating System X are housed here, accessible via QuickSelect. The home screen consists of a widget overview and the menu bar, which are complemented by new status areas on the sides. Favourite widgets can be dragged and dropped onto the BMW Panoramic Vision. Like the BMW Panoramic Vision, the Central Display is also easy to view from the front passenger and rear seats.
BMW Operating System X is complemented by a new BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant —
redesigned in appearance and significantly expanded in capability. Beyond natural language
interaction for navigation, communication, entertainment, and vehicle operation, the assistant
introduces proactive functions that learn and anticipate: suggesting features the driver has not yet explored, and saving routines that can be executed automatically at the start of each journey. Two voice options are available. The experience is at its most personalised when a BMW ID is active in the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the multifunction M steering wheel — flattened at the top and bottom with vertical
spokes — keeps the BMW Panoramic Vision unobstructed. Its floating Shy Tech controls on the left spoke respond to context, becoming visible only when relevant and allowing intuitive operation of assistance systems. Meanwhile, controls of infotainment functions are situated on the right side. All controls on the multifunction steering feature a surface design that offers haptic feedback, so functions can be operated without the driver's eyes leaving the road. In this way, the media, communications, BMW Panoramic Vision and assistance systems can be controlled safely while
driving.
The Design Language of a New Vehicle Generation.
What the 6th-generation BMW eDrive represents in engineering, the exterior of the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro represents in design — a new language that will define the BMW brand going forward. Smooth surfaces with restrained, precise lines create an unmistakably monolithic appearance, exuding road presence from every angle.
At the front, the vertical kidney grille with BMW Iconic Glow makes for an unmistakable appearance day and night, replacing the role previously performed by chrome with light as the defining element of quality and sophistication. The front apron, with the M Sport package's painted bumpers and side sills, emphasises the vehicle's sporting character. Flush-mounted door handles with contour lighting and new inward-facing window recess finisher strips create a flush transition between door and window underscoring the lightness of the design. The window graphic features elegant black all the way to the Hofmeister kink. A muscular shoulder area emphasises the vehicle's effortless sense
of power. The intelligent charging flap — which opens and closes automatically — integrates intothe rear quarter with the same seamlessness that characterises the vehicle's design from end to end.
At the rear, large, elegant lights frame the new BMW badge, while strong horizontal lines and
muscular shoulders complete a stance that is as purposeful as the front end is distinctive. The New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro rides on staggered 22-inch Y-Spoke Style 1054 M bicolour light alloy wheels, with M Sport brakes finished in red high-gloss.
Spacious, Modern Ambience.
Step back from the cockpit, and the interior of the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro reveals itself as a space defined by the careful coordination of colours, ambient lighting, and high-quality
materials. The instrument panel, finished in a textile surface with atmospheric backlighting, creates a warm and inviting atmosphere that flows consistently through to the door panels. Discreetly
integrated into the instrument panel are electrically adjustable air vents. Ambient lighting provides atmospheric lighting at night, reinforcing the interior as a complete, considered environment.
Meanwhile, the Interior Design BMW M in Black sets a precise, performance-oriented tone
throughout the cabin.
The M Sport seats for driver and front passenger are designed with pronounced shoulder sections and higher seat and backrest cheeks, complemented by a seven-programme massage function. Electric seat adjustment with memory function, seat heating for driver and front passenger, and steering wheel heating are included as standard, alongside M seat belts, the Comfort Access system and wireless charging tray. In-car entertainment is provided via 430-watt, 13-speaker HiFi loudspeaker system Harman Kardon.
Rear passengers benefit from generous headroom and large footwells, with adjustable seat backs and a centre armrest with cup holders between the left and right rear seats. Two USB-C ports at the back of the centre console and a touch display for independent control of the three-zone automatic air conditioning ensure rear passengers are equally well considered. The panoramic sunroof with climate comfort glazing floods the cabin with light, with its multi-layered design absorbing sunlight and providing complete protection against UV radiation.
The New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro offers a luggage capacity of 520 litres, expandable to 1,750 litres by folding down the rear seat bench in the familiar 40/20/40 split, with each segment foldable individually. The luggage compartment cover can be stowed under the cargo floor, allowing it to remain in the vehicle without occupying load space. For the first time in a BMW, a storage compartment under the bonnet adds a further 58 litres of capacity, constructed from 30% recycled maritime material.
Comfort, Confidence and Control.
The New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro is equipped with a comprehensive suite of cameras,
radars, and sensors as standard, supporting the complete range of current assistance systems for driving and parking. Through Symbiotic Drive, the vehicle's AI-supported software merges
seamlessly with the driver's commands to accelerate, brake, and steer — extending the same philosophy that defines the Heart of Joy into every assistance function, and bringing Sheer Driving Pleasure to a new dimension of confidence and control.
The New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro is equipped with Driving Assistant Plus, which provides steering and braking support and, when desired, controls speed and distance to the vehicle ahead while helping to keep the vehicle in its lane. The system automatically adjusts to detected speed limits and slows down when approaching corners, roundabouts, and junctions. This builds on the standard Driving Assistant suite, which includes Lane Keeping Assistant, Lane Departure Warning, Side Collision Warning, Emergency Stop Assistant, Cruise Control, Lane Change Warning, and Speed Limit Info.
For parking, Parking Assistant Professional provides a 360-degree view of the vehicle and its
surroundings, with extended parking views covering all sides. Via a compatible smartphone, the New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro can carry out parking manoeuvres with the driver standing up to six metres away, and can be moved forwards and backwards while the driver remains nearby.
This extends the standard Parking Assistant suite, which includes Active Park Distance Control, Drive-off Monitoring, Parking Assistant, Crossing Traffic Warning, Reversing Assistant, and Exit Warning.
The New BMW iX3 50 xDrive M Sport Pro comes with an extensive suite of digital connectivity as standard. An approaching driver is welcomed by lighting effects and door handles that extend automatically, with the interior already configured for a personalised experience. Each vehicle is delivered with a Setup Card for straightforward first-time configuration, alongside a physical backup key and Service Card.Intelligent Emergency Call and Teleservices ensure continuous connectivity and support.
