Earlier today, BMW Group Malaysia launched the All-New BMW i5 eDrive40 M Sport Pro. This is the first-ever fully electric BMW model to be locally assembled and the All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport, the long-wheelbase variant of BMW’s popular compact electric Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV). Together, the new models strengthen the brand’s expanding line-up of electrified offerings, delivering greater range, innovation, and versatility to meet the strong and rising demand for premium electrified mobility in Malaysia.
This extended wheelbase variant will be popular with buyers as the legroom, mostly for the rear passengers is way better than the usual iX1. It features a 110mm stretch in the wheelbase making an extra usable space totaling 116mm. While being the most affordable iX model you can buy, it isn't the most cramped variant as the driver can actually stretch out in whatever long legged driving position without compromising the passengers behind him, or her. It is actually good that BMW Malaysia feels that Malaysia is a market that has the requirement for longer wheelbase models but still keeping with a certain affordability segment. The All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport is estimated to be priced at RM255,000.00 before any insurance but with road tax. The price asked is actually very reasonable at this market segment and for something with so much interior space

Introducing a 110 mm extended wheelbase and an overall length increase of 116 mm, the All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport enhances both the presence and interior spaciousness of the all- rounded BMW iX1 line-up. The SAV has an updated enclosed grille design which features Extended Shadowline trim – an effect that is also seen with the diffuser and side sill elements. Another identifier of the grille design are lines and surfaces that extend outwards in the shape of an X.
Meanwhile, the slender wrap-round Adaptive LED headlights with high-beam assistant are enhanced with M Lights Shadowline. From the side, flush door handles and square wheel arches – housing 19-inch M light-alloy wheels Double-spoke style 871 M Bicolour – accompany the elongated silhouette. Rounding off the rear are three-dimensional taillights, with full-LED technology in a stylised L-shape. Other exterior elements include M Roof rails in high-gloss Shadowline and exterior mirror package. Luggage capacity is measured at 490 litres, expandable up to 1,600 litres and accessible via automatic operation of tailgate.
Inside, the extended wheelbase of the All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport offers an extended 81 mm of legroom and 107 mm of kneeroom. The seats have also been updated with a softer foam and a 15 mm extension to the cushion base. From the driver’s seat, the BMW Head-Up Display and BMW Curved Display with BMW Operating System 9 provide intuitive information and controls, while M Leather steering wheel and Aluminium Hexacube Pale M interior trim highlight the sporty characteristics of a BMW SAV. The biggest addition to the interior is the introduction of the Panoramic Skyroof with no central bar to disrupt the wide-open view range, accompanied by an electric opaque fabric shade to ensure maximum privacy. This is in addition to other comfort features, such as sport seats for driver and front passenger, electric seat with memory function, luxury instrument panel, automatic air conditioning, wireless charging tray, comfort access system, as well as 205-watt Harman Kardon Hi-Fi Loudspeaker System with 12 speakers.
Powered by one compact electrically excited synchronous motor (EESM) on the front axle, the All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport produces 150 kW / 204 hp and 250 Nm of torque, completing 0–100 km/h in 8.6 seconds with a top speed of 175 km/h. A new comfort-focused suspension system has been tuned specifically for the All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport to offer greater comfort on the drive. Meanwhile, the fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology includes charging hardware and high-voltage battery cells mounted flat in the floorpan – the 66.5 kWh (gross) battery delivers up to 433 km of range (WLTP). Charging via 11kW AC allows for 0–100% in 6 hours and 45 minutes, while the DC Charging speed of up to 130 kW allows for 10–80% in 32 minutes – 120 km of range can be added in just 10 minutes.
Now included as standard, the Driving Assistance Plus offers Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Steering &; Lane Control Assistant, Speed Limit Info and Lane Departure Warning with Lane Return.
Meanwhile, Parking Assistant Plus remains as standard, providing Surround View, Remote 3D View, BMW Drive Recorder and Park Assist Professional with Line and Curb detection – delivering a comprehensive safety suite designed for urban mobility. Active pedestrians safety and acoustic protection for pedestrians are also included as standard.
A standout feature for connectivity, the All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport features the latest BMW Operating System 9, in addition to BMW Live Cockpit Plus, Teleservices and Intelligent Emergency Call.
The All-New BMW iX1 eDrive20L M Sport arrives in a range of exterior colours, including Mineral White, Brooklyn Grey, Skyscraper Grey and Carbon Black. Meanwhile, interior upholstery is offered as Perforated Veganza in Castanea.
