Naza Eastern Motors Sdn Bhd, the official distributor of Suzuki cars here in Malaysia, has launched the all-new Suzuki Fronx Hybrid. This B segment crossover SUV was first launched in 2023 and is based on the Suzuki Baleno platform and was developed from the idea to create an SUV that is widely accepted by most markets.Here in Malaysia, only one variant is offered, the mild hybrid 1.5liter petrol engine with a price from RM147,888 before insurance.
The Fronx is on the pricey side but offers more individuality compared to other cars in its size segment. It features the stance of an SUV with the elegance of a coupe as it has more of a fastback tailgate. It also carries a five-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating, making it one of the safest compact cars around.

Built on Suzuki’s HEARTECT B lightweight platform, our Fronx comes from Indonesia and is basically the top specification variant of the Fronx, with its mild hybrid engine and 6 speed automatic gearbox.
The Fronx's styling has chrome-accented front grille, LED multi-reflector headlamps with DRLs and integrated signals, LED rear lights, wheel arch extensions, roof rails, and bold skid plates along the front, rear, and side give it that required SUV chunky look for the exterior. The Suzuki Fronx measures 3,995 mm in length, 1,765 mm in width, 1,550 mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,520mm.
Rounding off the exterior are 16-inch alloy wheels and a two-tone colour options, including Rising Orange + Cool Black, Savanna Ivory + Cool Black and Ice Grayish Blue + Cool Black. The single tone colours available are Pearl Mellow Deep Red, Cool Black, Pearl Snow White and Magma Gray.
As for the interior a 9-inch HD touchscreen infotainment system sits on the dashboard, supporting Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a Head-Up Display (HUD) and a 360-degree camera system for enhanced visibility. it is also fitted with a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel with tilt and telescopic adjustment, cruise control and wireless charging adds to the vehicle’s convenience and comfort.
The Suzuki Fronx has also been designed to offer a quiet and refined cabin with superior NVH (Noise, Vibration, and Harshness) performance, ensuring a premium and comfortable driving experience. Designed with a high articulation index, it effectively prevents unwanted external noise from entering the cabin, enhancing overall peace of mind for both driver and passengers.
The seat features a three-dimensional contoured design that complements the dual-tone interior, creating a cohesive and premium look. Its embossed seat edges not only enhance visual depth but also deliver a sense of comfort and sophistication, perfectly matching the overall cabin aesthetic.
The Fronx also has seven multiple compartments, has 308 liters of boot space and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.

The Fronx is powered by the Suzuki 1.5-litre K15C four-cylinder hybrid petrol engine, which makes 103PS at 6,000 rpm and 138 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The front wheel drive Fronx has the power going through a 6-speed automatic torque converter transmission with paddle shifters - this is indeed a unique and premium feature in this segment where most use CVT- This is something we totally like. . It features a 12V-10Ah Lithium Ion battery and a 37-litre fuel tank that allows the mild hybrid SUV to achieve a WLTP driving range of over 700 kilometers.
Complementing its performance are MacPherson strut front suspension, torsion beam rear suspension, and ventilated front disc brakes, ensuring a composed and stable ride across urban and highway conditions. The Fronx is engineered for durability and crash energy absorption, while its 170 mm ground clearance offers confidence over uneven terrain.
On a personal note, it does seem that the new Fronx still keeps to what we all know is a Suzuki. This is a company that does compact cars well and while a little bit on the pricey side, it shows off what it can offer to the table. The exterior is as contemporary as it can be, and I don't see much to complain about. As for the interior, it looks and feels very Japanese in its overall feel. No real faults in terms of equipment offered but you do wish the Japanese would move toward bezel-less screens for the infotainment system like what many are doing these days.

The Fronx will be offered with a 3-year or 100,000 km vehicle warranty and a 5-year or 100,000km battery warranty (whichever comes first), providing added peace of mind to Malaysian owners. The Suzuki Fronx has an on-the-road price excluding insurance of RM147,888.
