Aside from the unique truck and trailer, Datuk Kumar Prabakaran, Managing Director of Starrtrek also made the decision to invest in six more G360A4x2NA transporters of the more 'normal' sort and signed-up for the Fleet Management System (FMS) Control 1, Maintenance Contract alongside Scania Financial Services, including Insurance. Basically a complete package in terms of finance, the vehicle and its maintenance.
The Scania G360A4x2EB (one unit) and G360A4x2NA (six units) NTGs that were delivered were Starrtrek's first choice for fuel efficiency, increased payload, and improved productivity for long distance trips throughout Peninsula Malaysia. Definitely with the aim of star trucking throughout the universe in terms of efficiency if possible.
Speaking of efficiency, the Scania Prime Movers have been specified and fitted with the Fleet Management System (FMS) Control 1 – this will enable Starrtrek to monitor the progress of its drivers and ensure that the agreed targets of km/litre are met. The FMS also presents an opportunity for Starrtrek to sign the Scania Ecolution partnership agreement where a more structured approach to fuel savings, that leads to the reduction of Carbon Dioxide emissions, could be applied. This is in support of Starrtrek’s
intention to reduce the operation’s impact on the environment.
The NTGs ensure a cost-effective investment as they are designed and
engineered to give Scania truck owners better fuel efficiency as they are equipped with advanced powertrain and aerodynamic solutions. This gives more than 3% fuel economy as a standard. And when coupled with the Fleet Management System Control 1, more fuel savings could be achieved.
Furthermore, the Opticruise gearbox gives the Scania NTGs a pre-set default Economy mode for even more fuel savings. The Scania NTGs are also FAME prepared, ready for biodiesel up to B100 usage to care for the environment by reducing global emissions.
Scania Maintenance Contract gives predictable costs, so that Starrtrek can focus its time and energy on its core business, worry-free. By individually optimising the different modules in its service plan, Scania ensures via the maintenance contract that downtime is planned and only occurs when absolutely necessary.
These Scania NTGs provide a very comfortable adjustable driver seat that is placed closer to the door, with ergonomic dashboard with a 5-inch
touchscreen that works very well for the drivers. And most importantly the
large windscreen with extended view which gives clear visibility from the
different angles for the drivers, making it easier for them to operate in a comfortable and safe environment. Other safety features include the Electronic Braking System (EBS) for responsive emergency braking.
The 'supercar' transporter has been engineered with versatility in mind and able to safely transport special cars with minimal handling and maximum safety, one of the seven carriers is an enclosed luxury carrier that maintains confidentiality of the cars transported. This is to cater for the buoyant market of supercars that is steadily growing. Definitely a niche market that is growing as you can see quite a number if unique performance cars in the roads these days.
The strength of the remaining six carriers lay in its loading capacity (up to 10 units), simplicity of use and adaptation to extreme road and climate conditions. Unbeatable lightness yet strengthened with high-resistance chassis, which guarantees a higher loading volume, for all types of cars, with quick and simple loading operations.
“Starrtrek is built on a foundation of vast experiences and knowledge from years of service in the automotive logistics industry and is the first automotive logistics company to bring European-made carriers into Malaysia, giving
Starrtrek the competitive edge to stay ahead. These carriers are game
changers in Malaysia’s automotive logistics market,” said Datuk Kumar.
“We are very pleased that Starrtrek chose Scania prime movers to be part of its visionary move to be the premium transporter of cars and SUVs, especially supercars. The investment that Starrtrek has made to secure the technologically advanced NTGs will bring long term profitability to the company,” stated Heba El Tarifi, Managing Director, Scania Southeast Asia.
