During the official opening event of the Mercedes-Benz Setia Alam Autohaus, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia also announced the availability of two model updates in its SUV line; the new locally-assembled (CKD) Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 e 4MATIC Coupé as well as the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC (below), now enhanced with new vehicle equipment upgrades.
The new 2022 CKD Mercedes-Benz GLC 300 e 4MATIC Coupé combines the sportiness of a Coupé with the functionality of a SUV. This new plug-in hybrid variant makes the Coupé a paragon of sportiness, safety and efficiency. Basically, this is a SUV with a sloping fastback rear end instead of a more upright hatch that you'd see in a SUV. Note that since this is a hybrid powered SUV, and the battery pack is located in the boot floor, the loading area is higher up and you do lose a few centimeters of floor space to accommodate the battery required to power the system. You gain 'fuel' economy from a little bootspace.
As for the 2022 Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC, the compact SUV is now equipped with various equipment upgrades including parking package with 360-degree camera, head-up display, AMG Performance steering wheel in Nappa Leather, just to name a few. The thing about the GLB is that is is actually not as common on Malaysian roads at the GLA or larger GLC series SUVs. But I think this is due to the fully imported nature of the GLB, as prices for it start at RM392k. Compare that to the GLC Coupe mentioned above which comes in at RM375k onwards, you can see why even though it isn't a full AMG variant. Even the more bread and butter levels of GLB are comparable in terms of pricing vis a vis GLA and GLC .(Prices are pre 1st July 2022 though, it will get the SST added into by then)
“Mercedes-Benz has a very strong and successful presence in the SUV segment currently in Malaysia.Being a plug-in hybrid, the GLC 300 e 4MATIC Coupé offers customers the best of both worlds as we move forward towards a sustainable future and we are proud to introduce it as a locally-assembled variant. The vehicle is now more efficient overall, because it has the ability to recover energy during braking and allows the combustion engine to run in favourable operating ranges.
“We are also proud to announce the Mercedes-AMG GLB 35 4MATIC, which now comes with various vehicle upgrades, to enhance its driving experience for our customers. This compact SUV is not only sport but self-assured on the road,” Michael Jopp, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Mercedes-Benz Malaysia said,

single louvre typical of a Coupé complemented by the distinctive air intakes and the new contours of the
standard-fit MULTIBEAM LED headlamps featuring Adaptive Highbeam Assist. The SUV Coupé features
the AMG Line specifications and night package, including the 50.8 cm (20-inch) AMG 5-twin-spoke light-
alloy wheels and braking system with larger front disc brakes.
Flawless luxury and user-friendly controls are abound in the GLC 300 e 4MATIC Coupé’s interior with
particular importance given to the interior. The focus is on the dashboard and the flowing lines of the
centre console.
It features trim elements in open-pore black ash wood centre control and a light longitudinal-grain
aluminium trim. Featuring the AMG Line interior and leather upholstery with a multifunction sports steering
wheel wrapped in premium nappa leather.
Ambient lighting and interior lighting are visually striking as always, and it has the dashboard and door
beltlines in ARTICO man-made leather, featuring 4-way lumbar support for the seats and the "Mercedes-
Benz" lettering, illuminated on the door sill panels.
The multifunctional touchpad improves the cars operations further with the GLC 300 e 4MATIC Coupé
continuing to set standards in automotive excellence. In addition to this, the all-digital instrument display
pairs perfectly with the media display, being equipped with the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX)
infotainment system, boasting intuitive logic and a wide range of control options.
The GLC 300 e 4MATIC Coupé features include Active Lane Keeping Assist, which provides assistance
for the driver to stay in lane when manoeuvring. The system uses sensors in the ball head and a magnetic
ring to measure the angle between towing vehicle and trailer. It also features Blind Spot Assist and Active
Brake Assist ensuring the driver is always safe when behind the wheel.
The GLC 300 e 4MATIC Coupé will also include the Parking Package with a 360° camera offering good
all-round visibility and a greatly enhanced image on the display. It also includes the Active Parking Assist
with PARKTRONIC, the URBAN GUARD vehicle protection, and the anti-theft alarm system with an
interior monitoring system triggered when there is movement in the interior of the vehicle, which is
viewable from the Mercedes me app on the drivers mobile device.
For an easier charging solution, the GLC 300 e 4MATIC Coupé will have a charging cable for domestic
charging as a standard for this vehicle. This charging cable, also called a Mode 2 cable, enables the
vehicle battery to be charged via a household socket at up to 1.8 kW (230 V, 1-phase, 8 A), and is suitable
for type G BS 1363 sockets.
The on-board charger strikes an ideal compromise between size, weight and charging capacity. As well as
using the domestic power supply, convenient and uncomplicated charging is possible during the journey,
too. That's because the MBUX infotainment system (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) is able to assist the
driver in finding charging stations. The MBUX system understands natural speech, allowing the driver to
start a search simply by saying "Hey Mercedes, find charging stations nearby."
