Remember the Mercedes Benz 1990 200E W124 I wrote about frequently in here and also elsewhere? It's still around and this time sports an AMG bodykit with 500E flaired arches as well as a new paintjob. Owner Adlis K has actually kept the car in pristine condition and it even drives fabulously for such an old girl.
It isn't a 500E as both of us would have liked it to be but here in pricey road rax Malaysia, running a 500E on a daily basis would be impossible. So we have real enthusiasts that make do.
Note that the 2012 C180 CGI BlueEfficiency owned by Yours Truly also sports a C63 Grille.
But no, I am not crazy enough to get a whole C63 body kit for the car. It looks good as it is and the car is still too new to breathe more stuff into it.
I have to now state that the W204 C-Class is certain to be the next W124 on the grounds that it has classic Mercedes Benz styling that isn't fashion forward (especially the pre-facelifted ones with its squarer lights up front) and would still look good in front of any hotel lobby in years to come. Compare any other luxury car after its new model has come out and it instantly feels out of date - BMW feels like this in my opinion.
The second ground is that a whole lot of them are running around everywhere - Europe, the UK and even here with all the grey imports and new ones. This basically means that there are enough units to have a large parts industry supporting it for years to come - a large parts industry means very affordable spare parts in the long, long run. Note the W124, there are tons of new parts for the car to this day.
Now add the fact that it drives pretty well with good ride and pretty good handling to boot as well as performance from either a supercharged, turbocharged or V6 power for the larger capacity variants. It is because of this the W204 will be the future Mercedes Benz classic for many.
