All three PETRONAS Sprinta Yamaha Racing Teams have an established presence on the circuit, each lending their experience and passion for racing to their collaboration with Red Bull. Here is a look at each team’s background:

Speaking a little about the Cub Prix motorcycles, these are basically our 'kapchai', moped sized or underbone type of motorcycles in the 125 to 150 cc sizes. The best thing to see is that unlike the road going kapchais, these are highly modified from the roadgoing versions. Imagine taking a RM7,000 motorcycle and then adding about RM50,000+ worth of parts.

You can see the teams pulling out laptops for the ECU setting, huge oil coolers for the tiny engine, a titanium exhause system, Ohlins shock absorbers, CNC machined aluminium and carbon fibre parts. The list is actually endless and it does show that if you really put your head, heart and your wallet to it, magic can happen. These little bikes are seriously fast. I mean, have you ever seen tyre warmers being used for bikes under 150cc
