According to Volvo Cars, thousands of containers of production material for Volvo Cars factories are carried across the world’s oceans on container ships. Like most manufacturers do as it is the cheapest way of getting bulk items from one end to another. However, from now, the container ships used by Volvo Cars are made with renewable fuel instead of traditional fossil fuel. Volvo Cars are the first to announce such a move. The Swedish company will achieve an immediate reduction in fossil CO2 emissions from intercontinental ocean freight by an estimated 55,000 tonnes over a year. Thus, technically saving many manatees, dolphins and polar bears in a single swoop.

Volvo Cars announces that all cars launched from 2019 will have an electric motor in them
Volvo car has announced that it will only be launching cars equipped with an electric motor from 2019. What this simply means is that all of its cars will be electrified, either fully electric, plug in hybrid or mild hybrid cars. There would be no more Volvo cars that will only have a combustion engine that burns fossil fuel. It will either be in hybrid form at the very most.

Volvo Car Malaysia at the RHB-SHIMANO Highway Ride - Volvo Life Paint, Volvo V40 Adventure Package and some XC90 news
Note the backdrop here and when you view the other photos down below.
Yesterday
I went to a cycling event, the RHB-Shimano Highway Ride. This was a night
cycling event and it was held on the LEKAS Highway. A stretch of the highway was closed to
motorists from around 5.00pm to 3am earlier today. This must have caused some traffic jams in the surrounding area as some would have forgotten to bypass this stretch. Anyway, there were at
least a couple of thousand people at around starting time (about 8.00pm) with participation from at least 16 countries. Volvo Car
Malaysia, in conjunction with their authorised dealer, Clear Marque
Sdn Bhd and the event organisers, Go Sportz Sdn Bhd were there. They showed off the Volvo V40 with their newly advertised 'Adventure
Package' and also to launch a unique water based reflective spray
paint called Volvo Life Paint.

Thoughts on cool Volvo cars (Not their SUVs)- The 850 T5R and the newest cool Volvo - the S90 & V90
Recently
Volvo unveiled the wagon version of the also recently launched S90.
The V90 is a beautiful, beautiful station wagon that is what I
remember Volvo cars were like, big, boxy and full of presence. And they were basically cars. There were no SUVs back then, we had family saloons and wagons basically. Both
the S90 and V90 are stunning but they are actually very much a three
box design with its edges rounded off. This is actually much like the
Volvos of the 1990s. An era where Volvos were still popular
everywhere in the world including here in Malaysia.

TEST DRIVE: Volvo V40 T5 Cross Country 2.0 - Probably the most refined premium hatchback in the market
Volvo cars have a long history in
Malaysian motoring. They were one of the first European cars warmly
embraced by the Malaysian car buying public. In the 1970s, 1980s and
up to the 1990s you could see many of them plying our cities, towns
and even villages. People who could afford a large sedan bought them
for their size and safety. They were box shaped cars that many of
those born in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s would remember as the car
that their father, uncle, grandfather had and those were sweet
memories of being in something safe and secure.

Volvo Car Malaysia launches the all-new Volvo XC90 SUV - Volvo gets back its mojo
Volvo Car Malaysia today unveiled the all-new Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine AWD SUV. The XC90 is Volvo's premium seven-seat SUV, equipped with world-leading safety technologies and powered by a plug-in hybrid powertrain that delivers an unrivalled combination of power, fuel efficiency and low emissions.
Important facts to note are that the T8 Twin Engine utilises a combination of a 4-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor that outputs a total power of 407hp and 640Nm of torque, whilst still delivering a combined fuel consumption of 2.1l/100km and CO2 emissions as low as 49g/km. The Volvo XC90 T8 Twin Engine goes from 0- 100km/h in only 5.6 seconds. And it weighs 2,300kgs (at least 140 of those kgs belongs to the battery pack and the electric motor) . Impressive for such an heavy SUV.
