Proton Employee From R&D Department Found COVID-19 Positive - Steps Have Been Taken By the Company to Help Curb Any Spread of the Virus


PROTON has come out with a statement that states one of their employees have been tested positive for Covid-19. The employee is from the Research & Development Department located in Shah Alam and is not one of those that are in the sales, aftersales or marketing departments which have contact with lots of people.

New Prices for Kia, Peugeot, Citroen & DS Models in Malaysia Effective Till 31 December 2020



Naza Automotive Group, the automotive division of Naza Group, have announced the latest prices for vehicles under its automotive brands. This was made in line with the MalaysianGovernment’s announcement of sales tax exemption for locally-assembled vehicles and tax reduction for imported cars until 31 December 2020 as part of the national economic stimulus plan that it had implement coming out of the COVID-19 induced lockdown. The revised pricelist which is posted below, effective from 15 th June 2020 until 31 st December 2020, covers models offered by Kia, Peugeot, Citroën, and DS brands. For their NZ Wheels Mercedes-Benz dealership, the prices for new Mercedes-Benz vehicles are in the previous article as the prices were made by Mercedes-Benz Malaysia.

Goodyear Malaysia Announces Zero Contact Initiative for all Goodyear Autocare Centres


Goodyear Malaysia recently announced its Zero Contact Initiative (Zero Contact), whereby customers can get new tyres fitted at any participating Goodyear Autocare centre without any direct person-to-person contact throughout the entire process. As per the usual norm these days, this is to ensure a safe environment for its consumers and staff as businesses resume amidst the COVID-19 pandemic affecting us all. The practice follows procedures successfully implemented in the United States of America, Australia and other ASEAN countries which Goodyear are conducting their businesses at.

PROTON Records Sales of 5,676 in May 2020 - Good Numbers Despite Movement Control Measures & Other News - Promo on X70 and for Frontliners


We have just come out of the Movement Control Order (MCO) due to the Malaysian government trying to curb the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus and are now hopefully into the tailend of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO). The shutdown of the country's businesses due to this has led to a near total economic slowdown and now, the automotive industry like other sectors are moving slowly, hoping for recovery of sorts. Malaysian car company PROTON has posted its May 2020 sales figures and they have sold a promising 5,676 units of vehicles.

Perodua Sells 7,886 Vehicles in May 2020 / June Sales Campaign Promo - Promising Numbers Amid the Movement Control Order Slowdown in Business


According to the Malaysian Automotive Association, the country's Total Industry Volume (TIV) for vehicle sales will drop from around slightly over 600,000 to about 400,000 due to economic slowdown forced globally by the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be something to monitor closely as now, Malaysia is coming out from the Movement Control Order (MCO) period and people are now going back to work, albeit in a different, more social distanced way. We are now getting the first reports of sales figures and the first is Perodua, which has closed the month of May 2020 with 7,886 cars sold, bringing its year-to-date (YTD) sales total to 52,920 units.

Perodua Has Resumed All Operations Nationwide After the Two Month MCO Closure


Good news for all Perodua owners and customers. The Malaysian compact car manufacturer has officially resumed operations at all 182 sales, 202 service and 68 Body & Paint outlets nationwide, after a two-month Movement Control Order (MCO) closure. As with all re-opening of car dealerships nationwide, Perodua have put in place their Standard Operating Procedures to safeguard everyone within their facilities, be it their staff and also the people who are visiting their premises.

PROTON Announces Standard Operating Procedures at Their Service Centres


New standard operating procedures are being implemented at PROTON service centres, folks! This is the latest update from PROTON after the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) on 4 May 2020 where PROTON has now started the progressive reopening of all its sales and service outlets and also its corporate office and the company is not taking things lightly as they have 9,000 staff and many more working at its dealerships.

Ferrari Starts Producing Prancing Horses Again Over At Maranello


It has been awhile since I actually wrote or talked about Ferrari. Couple that to the Movement Control Order here in Malaysia, it seems like a lifetime ago. This week, the Ferrari factories in Maranello and Modena have gradually returned to full production, in line with the "Back on Track" program. The first car produced after a long forced break was a Ferrari Monza SP2 (pictured above).

Toyota to Resume Production in its Bukit Raja Plant


Toyota will be starting up its production back again after its closure due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) which was put in place by the Malaysian government to slow the spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus.  Assembly Services Sdn Bhd (ASSB), UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd’s subsidiary involved in manufacturing Toyota vehicles, has resumed its assembly operations at its plant in Bukit Raja, Selangor.

Hyundai- Sime Darby to Provide Subsidies for Dealers and Sales Consultants Affected by the Movement Control Order - Also, Their Service Centres and Now Open


This is quite a good move by the Malaysian distributors of Hyundai. The authorised distributors of Hyundai here, Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) has announced that they will be assisting their dealers and also the sales consultants affected by the Movement Control Order lockdown (due to COVID-19) of non-essential services here by offering subsidies to help with their financial difficulties. This comes into play as the Malaysian government has now enforced a less stringent MCO where businesses are finally allowed to open again.

Renault Malaysia Goes Strong Online - Moving Forward Post Movement Control Order in Malaysia, Subscription, Mobile Application & More


Recently I 'attended' an online media briefing by TC Euro Cars (TCEC), the authorised distributors for Renault in Malaysia and they basically briefed us on how they will move forward especially in this era of social distancing due to the COVID-19 pandemic which caused the country to go into somewhat of a lockdown. Of course, Renault Malaysia via TCEC had even, prior to this Movement Control Order period decided to have more of and online presence and also their uniquely tailored subscriotion plans which allow customers to have flexible ownership of a Renault.

UMW Toyota Motor ReOpens Selected Toyota Service Centres Around Malaysia


UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd (UMWT) has received approval from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) to re-open selected authorised Toyota service centres in Malaysia following the new directives pertaining to the COVID-19 Movement Control Order affecting the country. The company will open selected Toyota outlets for emergency and urgent service requirements only, at minimum capacity. So take note.

Additional 'Welcome Back' After Sales Campaign Benefits for Volkswagen Owners Who Are Frontliners in the Fight Against COVID-19


Volkswagen Passengers Cars Malaysia (VPCM) have announced to us that they have updated their “Welcome Back” aftersales campaign to include additional benefits specially for Volkswagen owners who are part of the nation’s frontliners. MODENAS Will Be Opening Selected Service Centres During the Extended Movement Control Order Period


MODENAS, the Malaysian motorcycle company will be resuming after sales operations at selected branches throughout Peninsula Malaysia. This follows the recent statement by the Malaysian Government - via the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (“MITI”) that certain business under the automotive industry will be allowed to resume operations even though the country is under the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

'Kia Promise' On Vehicle Warranties Expiring During the COVID-19 Lockdown Period


If you own a Kia vehicle here in Malaysia and having its warranty expiring during the Movement Control Order (MCO) period you need not worry. There is the Covid-19 ‘Kia Promise’ which extends vehicle warranties. This international warranty is by Kia Motors Corporation and it extends cover for vehicles with original manufacturer warranty that expires between February 1 and April 30, 2020.

Shell Malaysia recently showed their support and care for the nation’s frontliners during this fight against COVID-19. Their aid was made through a series of outreach initiatives aimed to lessen the worries and challenges faced by those who are at the front of our fight against this very infectious virus. Essential items such as hand sanitizers, mineral water, food and beverages were among the items contributed and were sent to Hospital Sungai Buloh, Hospital Kuala Lumpur, and Hospital Raja Permaisuri Bainun in Ipoh.

Perodua Joins the Fight Against Covid-19 by Contributing RM2 Million to the National Disaster Management Agency



Perodua has joined the fight against COVID-19 by contributing RM2 million to the National Disaster Management Agency’s (NADMA) COVID-19 fund. In addition to the sizeable sum, Perodua has also donated 150 mattresses, 200 pillows, 105 boxes of mineral water, 15 industrial fans and 300 pairs of rubber boots to the Sungai Buloh Hospital to aid the ongoing fight against the global pandemic.

Prestige CarCare, a Klang Valley car maintenance and repair service, has offered its complimentary services which will be basic emergency services such as jump starting faulty car batteries and changing car tyres to aid frontliners who are working tirelessly for the sake of all Malaysians. Frontliners here include doctors, health workers, policemen and RELA volunteers. The services are only limited to the Klang Valley area so take note.
