New test drive video on our YouTube channel folks! This time its a 2024 onwards Isuzu D-Max. The 2024 onwards Isuzu D-Maxis more than a facelift according to the folks at Isuzu. Numerous changes particularly to the front and rear design elements, wheels and interior have been given attention to provide the vehicle with fresh appeal. The pickup truck tested is the Malaysian spec Isuzu D-Max 3.0L 4X4 X-Terrain.
The front end receives a new treatment including a new headlight cluster, bumpers, grille and bonnet. Much of these focus on giving The New Isuzu D-Max a more stylish appearance while improving on aerodynamics.
Sporty new alloy rims, a revised tailgate (lockable on the X-Terrain), and new combination tail lamp design combine to add to its dynamic new looksIThe New Isuzu D-Max receives a host of updates with the flagship D-Max X-Terrain enjoying notable new features such as a 10” infotainment system, new leather seats, classic Japanese origami Miura design elements and mood-enriching ambient lighting to name a few.
The flagship D-Max X-Terrain is one of the safest trucks on the market with its complete suite of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) features coupled to an ASEAN NCAP 5-star safety rated base. The new model takes it even further with a new stereo camera that boasts a wider 120° view. This allows the system to detect and recognize a greater number of objects including child pedestrians and provide quicker and more accurate reactions.
Driveability has also improved through the new Rough Terrain Mode feature available in all 4×4 Double Cab models. With the mode activated, be it in 2H, 4H or 4L, traction is enhanced with the vehicle managing power distribution seamlessly. This feature allows those less familiar with off-road driving to venture onto rugged terrain with greater confidence.
Driving the 3.0liter 4 cylinder turbodiesel does betray its workhorse heritage as the diesel clatter does enter the cabin. But in terms of creature comforts and the fact that the 6 speed automatic just lopes along at under 2,000rpm (1,250rpm to 1,800rpm) in and around town, it is decently quiet. Even fuel consumption is surprisingly decent for a 3.0liter diesel. Important since diesel in Peninsular Malaysia has had its subsidy prices removed (not over in East Malaysia though).
But do watch our review as we usually just focus on the driving abilities of the vehicle rather than the specs.
