TC Euro Cars, the official distributor for Renault cars in Malaysia, is offering a special promotion exclusively for only three units of the Renault ZOE full-electric vehicle in conjunction with Zero Emissions Day (there is a day for everything these days - mother's day, father's day, friendship day, friendzone day, hug a bear day...). The promotion offers a RM18,000 rebate on each of the three Renault ZOE on offer and free ChargEV membership for three years.
The ChargEV allows the ZOE owners to recharge it at any authorised public charging stations for free. With over 150 stations nationwide, this could make life easier for owners of electric cars as well as plug-in hybrids.
The 100% electric Renault ZOE currently retails at RM145,888 on-the-road inclusive of GST, without insurance, for Peninsular Malaysia and private registration. The price stated is already exempted from import duty. So with the inclusion of the RM18K rebate, the ZOE costs RM 127,888.
A 3.6 kWh Delta wall-mounted charger is included with the purchase of the Renault ZOE which you will use to charge at home. The ZOE has a range of approximately 210km. So it should be enough for daily commute in and around the city or town you're in. Just don't expect to make Penang from Kuala Lumpur on a single charge, simply because the distance is longer than that.
This car with the rebate seems a little more sensible in terms of pricing. Wish it wasn't limited to just three units though.

Renault’s solution to Zero Emission mobility
Designed from the ground up as a pure-electric vehicle, Renault ZOE emits no CO2, NOx, CO or fine particles. It also signals the disappearance of unpleasant smells and ‘engine’ noise during road use.
Renault ZOE is a compact five-door hatchback with sleek, fluid lines that embodies both a sense of breakthrough technology and core automotive styling cues.
Its agile, dynamic looks express driving enjoyment. 16-inch alloy wheels and contemporary proportions combined with sculpted volumes make the Renault ZOE a reassuring and captivating car.
On the inside, the Renault ZOE reflects its modern, ‘eco’ character, with a bright colour scheme evocative of purity. The dashboard moulding has been designed to resemble the blade of a wind turbine.
Acceleration and pull-away of the Renault ZOE are responsive from low speeds while driving is more relaxing thanks to the silent ride and smooth, gearshift-free acceleration. Its synchronous electric motor with rotor coil delivers maximum power of 88PS from 3,000 to 11,300 rpm and peak torque of 220Nm from as low as 250 rpm.
Powered by a 22kWh lithium-ion battery, full charging times for the ZOE ranges from four hours on a 7kW fast charger to nine hours on a regular 3.6kW charger. At full charge, the Renault ZOE has a driving range of 210km (based on the NEDC cycle)[2].
The Renault ZOE comes standard with a seven-inch Renault R-Link touchscreen display with USB connectivity and hands-free Bluetooth kit with music playback, an audio keyless entry system with walkaway lock, and a 12V power socket.
It also offers cruise control and speed limiter, automatic climate control with temperature and humidity sensors, automatic wipers and headlights as well as daytime running lights.
Ample storage space is available with 338 litres of boot space which expands to 1,225 litres with the rear seat folded.
Standard safety features include four airbags – dual front airbags as well as head-and-chest side airbags for driver and passenger, ABS with EBD, ESC and ASR, height adjustable 3-point front seatbelts with pretensioners, ISOFIX child seat anchors on the outer rear seats and front passenger seat.
