Scania Malaysia has officially opened their new Sales and Services Branch in Kuching, Sarawak. The new centre is located at Lot 935, Lorong Demak Laut, 7A Jalan Demak Laut 7, Demak Laut Industrial Park, 93050 Kuching, Sarawak and is the second sales and services branch after one in Bintulu, The new centre is part of Scania's expansion plan in the state which is deemed as a growing market for the brand.
According to Marie Sjödin Enström, Managing Director of Scania Southeast Asia who said, “We have listened to customer feedback and we have responded by investing further in Sarawak into this new premise in Kuching. Our customers will be assured of wider and better services by being at the heart of the state’s transportation network,”
The new Kuching branch is headed by Phang Yee Fong, Regional Manager of East Region. Her team consists of a Solution Sales Executive, a Workshop Manager, Service Technicians and other supporting staff. The team is well-trained in the Scania way and continues to be trained in the latest development of new technology and methods.
The three-bay workshop at the centre has column lifters diagnostic tools and other standard equipment to ensure that trucks, buses and coaches that come get the right maintenance quality. According to Scania Malaysia,they have ensured that parts availability throughout Sarawak is secured by their logistics setup with the regional Asia Parts Centre located in Singapore able to swiftly supply any critical parts throughout the region.
Scania Malaysia will celebrate 50 years in Malaysia next year, so this new centre is a testament to their commitment to conducting business here.
"As we celebrate 50 years in this country next year, being in Kuching means we now have 12 dedicated workshops throughout Malaysia, to meet the country’s public and cargo transport needs.” said Marie.
"We continue to explore the possibilities of renewable fuels and electrification in Sarawak. This is a state rich in natural environment and are already used to living in a more sustainable relationship with nature, I look forward to strengthening more sustainability partnerships here." continued Marie on Scania's long term game plan for Sarawak and Malaysia overall.
As for the Kuching branch, the branch head Phang Yee Fong said, “We have the broadest range of trucks, buses & coaches and services to suit every type of operation. Our customers continue to believe in the fuel efficiency of the New Truck Generation. The XT model serves in the toughest of environment. Coupled with repair and maintenance contracts, roadside assistance, parts, data-driven services – fleet management systems and driver training & coaching as well as Scania Financial Services; our customers continue to benefit from a total solutions approach. This results in greater uptime and total operating economy.”
Customers have also been eagerly awaiting the opening of this branch for the better after sales support the new branch with give. These include their long time haulage companies like High Tackle Sdn Bhd and Biaramas Express Sdn Bhd. Aside from these two companies, other customers that will benefit from the new centre are PLSH, UITM, Jurukin, Persafe, Institut Pendidikan Guru, Jabatan Pendaftaran Mahkamah Bergerak and Pejabat Pelajaran Daerah. These are government agencies that operate Scania buses in and around Kuching as well as throughout Sarawak.
