The latest 2019 Audi A5 Sportback now makes its appearance in Malaysia. Audi's five-door coupé is one of those new coupe-sedan type of cars which blends luxury, sportiness with a dose of practicality. Suitable for the family but still looking quite sporty so you don't feel like you're facing a mid-life crisis if you are a forty-something who bought one.
The A5 Sportback is now the second generation A5. Aside from its new good looks, it comes with fully connectivity and the latest infotainment features for the occupants to utilise inside the car. Other than that, this second generation comes with a completely reengineered suspension for improved vehicle dynamics and also innovative driver assistance systems which is actually quite mandatory for a premium car in 2019.
Audi Malaysia has decided that the Malaysian specced Audi A5 Sportback will come with Audi's new 2.0 TFSI engine and quattro all-wheel drive as standard. The 2.0liter TFSI engine makes 252ps and 370Nm of torque. Power is fed to the quattro system via a 7 speed S-tronic dual clutch transmission. So gearshifts should be pretty snappy.
Other notable stuff include premium features (for a premium car) which include full LED headlights, Audi virtual cockpit with MMI navigation plus with MMI touch.
The new A5 Sportback is wow available at all authorised Audi showrooms in Malaysia and is priced at RM 339,900 on the road without any insurance. The price seems quite competitive since it is still a fully imported car and is subject to the full import tax and duties.
Audi have stated in the press release that they are quite serious in re-establishing the brand here in Malaysia again, so it shows in the specification of the new cars launched here (maybe not the smallest Q series launched recently which was quite sparsely specified), but it seems to be the way with this A5 and the A3 1.4 TFSI sedan which they launched the same time as this.
