Last Friday, I attended the official launch of the JETOUR T2. Brought in by JETOUR Malaysia, this is a mid-sized, or C segment SUV that Jetour say has practicality alongside genuine all-terrain performance. The 2026 JETOUR T2 SUV features a 2.0l turbocharged engine, intelligent all-wheel drive capability, advanced connectivity and comprehensive safety in a distinctive, boxy design that will make it look different from other SUVs in the Malaysian market in the RM150,000 to RM200,000 price range.. It also adds to the JETOUR range here as well as allowing customers even more SUV option in this segment. Fortunately, JETOUR only sells one option here, locally assembled at RM156,888 before any early bird promotions. A very good price considering what they are offering in terms of specification and equipment levels.
At the front of the boxy SUV, the JETOUR T2 is powered by a 2.0 liter 4 cylinder turbocharged direct injection (TGDi) petrol engine producing 180kW or 242hp and 375Nm of torque,. The engine is coupled to a 7-speed Dual Clutch Transmission (7DCT)and goes through JETOUR's Intelligent XWD system, featuring 7+X drive modes that continuously adapt torque distribution according to terrain and driving conditions. The JETOUR T2 rides on 255/60 R19 alloy wheels.
The JETOUR T2 looks muscular and looks the part. It is traditional in its SUV styling as it takes after square and chunky looks ala a Toyota Land Cruiser or a Land Rover Discovery. This is the sort of SUV that I actually prefer as it takes after those from the 1980s. Exterior highlights include auto LED headlamps, the illuminated “JETOUR” wordlight signature, distinctive light ray LED rear taillamps and a rear-mounted spare tyre that underscores its adventurous character. An electric suction back door further elevates everyday convenience. The JETOUR T2 is available in three exterior colours: Khaki White, Aviation Silver and Carbon Black.
As for the notable interior bits, the cabin centers around a 15.6-inch multimedia display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity for seamless smartphone integration. The intelligent “Hello Jetour” voice assistant allows drivers to operate navigation, climate and media functions through voice commands, while a 50W fast wireless charger ensures devices remain powered throughout the journey. A SONY 12-speaker premium audio system enhances the in-car experience with immersive sound quality suited for both daily commutes and long-distance drives.
The cabin features leatherette seats with front memory seats with welcome function. These are also front ventilated seats designed for Malaysia’s tropical climate. There is multicolour ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof that enhances the sense of space within the cabin. These features position the JETOUR T2 as a versatile SUV that balances urban sophistication with weekend adventure.
Safety is a core pillar of the T2, which has achieved a 5-Star ASEAN NCAP safety rating. The SUV is equipped with six SRS airbags, Level 2 Advanced Driving Assistance System (ADAS), a Panoramic View Monitoring System providing a 360-degree view around the vehicle with transparent chassis, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Together, these systems enhance driver awareness, reduce fatigue and provide comprehensive protection for occupants.
The T2 is priced at RM156,800. It is backed by a 7-year / 150,000 km vehicle warranty and a 10-year / 1,000,000 km powertrain warranty, reflecting JETOUR Malaysia’s commitment to long-term ownership confidence. In addition, the first 3,000 registered customers will enjoy a RM2,000 cash rebate.
The JETOUR T2 launch was held in conjunction with a Ramadan buka puasa gathering, reflecting JETOUR’s appreciation for the Malaysian community during the holy month. The evening also marked the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Turtle Conservation Society of Malaysia, underscoring the brand’s commitment to sustainability and responsible exploration as it continues to expand its presence in the country.
I like how it looks, and with the price actually being very competitive in the segment, the T2. I don't think there are many traditional boxy looking SUVs on sale at this price range. The only ones I can think of are the Suzuki Jimny - which is a real icon but lacks any proper modern touches as well as performance (only 1.5l no turbocharger or a hamster on a wheel inside it) and maybe the Proton X70 - that however lacks a proper all-wheel drive system but is cheaper. The ones that look like this is a reconditioned Toyota Land Cruiser 250 series which you can only go buy through a grey import dealer at around RM340K or a GWM Tank 300 or 500 series at over RM240K and above. Maybe a Chery Tiggo 7 could be a decent alternative, but it features softer lines and styling.
I think JETOUR may fill a niche here actually. Good for them.
