Hello folks! This is the latest preview and test drive together with our thoughts on the upcoming 2025 facelifted Proton X70 SUV. The popular Geely based SUV has finally been facelifted and it has a lot of new stuff inside as well as new looks on the outside. The exterior gets a new bonnet with power bulges, a reworked front end with new bumper and grille as well as new headlights. The rear gets a reworked bumper that makes it look wider.
The interior gets new material trim, ambient lighting on the dashboard, a larger infotainment screen and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for better connectivity. ADAS, or advanced driver active safety is not upgraded with better sensitivity like the recently launched X90 and S70 sedan. Better stuff for 2025 onwards.
The X70 has been around since 2018 or about 7 or so years so this revision is sorely needed. In today's day and age, manufacturers upgrade models or variants quickly and this is about time.
I do like how the X70 refresh came out. The car looks better and in terms of other notable changes, the car seems to handle better, has better throttle response and is agile for a C segment SUV. Of course, it still keeps the 1.5liter GDI turbo engine and it is quite a large and heavy car so initial acceleration is a little bit sluggish. But Proton states that engine and transmission has been tweaked to improve response and also improve fuel efficiency. It does feel slightly improved, but I'd love it if it had maybe a good 30Nm more torque.
But watch the video. The X70 is more than just the engine and transmission. More photos below.
