2020 Perodua Bezza Facelift launched - Expects to Deliver 5,600 Units by End of January, Meaning They Have Produced A Lotta Units Prior to Launch

Perodua has launched the 2020 Perodua Bezza today. Aside from the fact that this is a facelift with slightly refreshed looks and better equipment inside, the Malaysian car manufacturer has also stated that they have already produced a lot of the new Bezza and expects to deliver some 5,600 units in January 2020. This is the story of really ensuring that there are more than adequate stocks of a car model available. Quite an interesting achievement in my opinion as we have always heard of products being launched and deliveries only start some time later.

The new, refreshed 2020 Perodua Bezza A Segment Sedan was officially unveiled by Perodua at Sentul Depot, Sentul West earlier today. It was officiated by Perodua Chairman Tan Sri Asmat Kamaludin. The facelifted Bezza gets an external refresh with differently styled front and rear bumpers, new alloy wheel designs, LED headlights for all variants and also get advanced safety technology. It makes this popular first time car owner and also popular second or third car as well as to those with ride sharing drivers a choice which continues to offer fuel efficiency, dependability, space, practicality, ease to drive and low ownership costs.

The 2020 Bezza will be priced from RM34,580 to RM49,980, on-the-road before insurance in Peninsular Malaysia, the 2020 Perodua Bezza comes in 1.0 G MT, 1.0 G AT, 1.3 X AT and 1.3 AV AT variants.

Perodua President and Chief Executive Officer Dato’ Zainal Abidin Ahmad (seen to the right of Tan Sri Asmat)  said at the launch, “The 2020 Perodua Bezza is the result of our many engagements with our valued customers. The improvements we have made are centred around the ideas of smart design, smart drive and smart safety,”

Folks are going to note the now standard across all variants LED headlamps and that larger lower grilled front bumper. LED technology has now gotten so affordable and the face that Perodua has been always pushing for efficiency and lower costs has allowed them to make such technology standard across the board. This benefits the customers as they get the latest and they don't really need to pay much for it. This is entry level mind you.

Another addition are the two-tone side skirts which are also made standard across the range. These complete a restyled rear bumper and 15-inch 10-spoke alloys (on 1.3 litre variants) for a more aggressive looking compact sedan. From looking at it I have to say that the front on its own will attract its fair share of buyers to the car.

Perodua also announced two body colours new to the Bezza. These are Garnet Red (exclusive to 1.3 litre variants) and Granite Grey. The new colours join the four existing colours which are Ivory White, Glittering Silver, Ocean Blue and Sugar Brown.

Inside, there are white-illuminated gauges with keyless entry and start, front corner sensors offered on the 1.3 litre variants. However, all variants get power-adjustable side mirrors and reverse sensors.

The Bezza 1.3 AV gets even more adds a reverse camera and its side mirrors can retract with the push of a button. It also gets Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0*) driver assistance safety systems. This finally makes its debut in the Bezza range on the AV variant, making it the most affordable sedan in Malaysia with such a feature. All of these upgrades basically come hot on the heels of the Axia facelift, which was launched at the end of 2019.

In terms of what ASA 2.0 offers, it comprises of  Pedestrian Detection (up to 50 km/h), Pre-Collision Warning (up to 100 km/h), Pre-Collision Braking (up to 80 km/h), Front Departure Alert and Pedal Misoperation Control, all of which work together to mitigate collisions.

Aside from the range topping AV variant, the 2020 Bezza X variant now gains the Vehicle Stability Control and traction control which was only previously offered on the AV variant. Basically more safety features have trickled downwards with this facelift. Prices are still as competitive as ever from the looks of it. It does seem like Perodua is passing on its savings to their customers.

So this is quite an expected facelift of the Bezza. It gets a restyle and more safety features. Being a Perodua facelift and the fact that there is nothing inherently wrong with the way it drives, most of the ride, handling and performance characteristics have not been changed. Of course, one must mention that the Bezza and all of Perodua's current line-up have been tested to withstand the driving style of Malaysian drivers, especially on highways. One must remember that most Perodua cars are designed around Daihatsu city cars and the usually pedestrian speeds that Japanese usually drive their city cars.

Here, we do get drivers hitting over 110kmh on highways. So Peroduas are usually beefed up from the outset with stiffer, sportier suspension. Of course, this still isn't performance car levels. It is just one tweak to make it better. The Bezza is still an entry level sedan for one main purpose, transport from A to B. So on that point, this is a very, very, very successful car.

The Perodua Bezza compact sedan was first launched in 2016. It features  an upper-body developed completely by Perodua and with it shows that they have actually grown in leaps and bounds (but with careful increments and steps) over the years. The original, pre-facelift Bezza is also Perodua's first sedan and Malaysia’s first Energy-Efficient Vehicle (EEV) sedan when it was launched. To date, some 184,000 units have found Malaysian homes. It is extremely popular and even prior to this launch, the company's order books for this model have been full.

“We are confident the bolder and smarter 2020 Perodua Bezza will continue to carry the torch – our aim is to sell 4,000 units monthly on average,” said Dato’ Zainal..

“To learn more about the 2020 Perodua Bezza and take it for a spin, do speak to our friendly authorised sales advisors at any of our sales outlets nationwide. Please also visit our revamped website at www.perodua.com.my to stay up-to-date on the latest Perodua has to offer,” he added.

The 2020 Perodua Bezza comes with a five-year/150,000 km warranty (whichever comes first).
