SHELL LUBRICANTS VIA THE SHELL HELIX BRAND LAUNCHES MALAYSIA’S FIRST-EVER ENGINE WARRANTY PROGRAMME


Shell Lubricants has unveiled Malaysia’s first engine warranty programme that is linked with engine oil, the Shell Helix Engine Warranty (S.H.E.W). Vehicle owners who service their vehicles with Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology, Shell’s most advanced motor oil, can benefit from a warranty against lubricant-caused engine failures for up to 12 years or 200,000 km from the vehicle’s manufacturing date, whichever comes first.  The free warranty also applies to purchase of Shell Helix HX7.


S.H.E.W. covers the costs of repair or replacement of 15 engine components (details in the Fact Sheet below) that may fail if it is ascertained that the Shell Helix motor oil has fail to provide proper lubrication and protection. Eligible vehicle owners who have registered for S.H.E.W. can claim up to RM15,000 (for Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology users) and RM8,000 (for Shell Helix HX7 users) in repair costs. 

According to Shell Lubricants Executive Director – South East Asia (SEA), Troy Chapman, S.H.E.W. reflected the company’s absolute confidence in the quality and performance of its Shell Helix range of premium passenger car motor oils. This is quite an unprecedented move. I believe the first such warranty offered by a lubricant company in Malaysia 



When asked, Mr Chapman (above, middle) said that the S.H.E.W type of warranty is currently implemented in South Korea, Russia, Thailand and India. Shell has also implemented a variation of this warranty over in America. This gives owners peace of mind. For example your car has a five year manufacturer's warranty, and after this has expired you can actually continue having some sort of engine warranty coverage for the next seven years or so (remember that the coverage runs to the 12th year as stated above) or 200,000km. Not bad. More value added benefits for Shell customers. Of course, terms and conditions apply.

Unprecedented free warranty against lubricant-caused[1] engine failures for up to 12 years/200,000km[2] to protect what matters most, for longer.

Kuala Lumpur, Tuesday (May 10, 2016) -- Shell Helix, which is constantly pushing the innovation boundaries for drivers, today unveiled Malaysia’s first engine warranty programme, the Shell Helix Engine Warranty (S.H.E.W).

Drivers who service their vehicles with Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology, Shell’s most advanced motor oil, can benefit from a warranty against lubricant-caused engine failures for up to 12 years or 200,000 km from the vehicle’s manufacturing date, whichever comes first.  The free warranty also applies to purchase of Shell Helix HX7.

Launched in 2014, Shell Helix with PurePlus Technology was the first motor oil to feature the company’s revolutionary gas-to-liquid technology that converts natural gas into an ultra-clean and stable base oil.

Eligible vehicle owners who have registered for S.H.E.W. can claim up to RM15,000 (for Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology users) and RM8,000 (for Shell Helix HX7 users) in repair costs.

S.H.E.W. is available to personal passenger vehicles that are registered to operate within Malaysia which are eight years old or less with mileage of less than 100,000 km.  Registering for S.H.E.W. is quick and simple. 

All vehicle owners need to do is complete an oil change at any authorised S.H.E.W. workshop where the trained mechanics will be able to assist with registration.  Customers who perform their own oil change can also purchase their preferred Shell Helix Ultra and Shell Helix HX 7 motor oil from any Shell Petrol station and contact the S.H.E.W. Customer Hotline or self-register online.

Once registered under S.H.E.W., the customer will receive helpful reminders so that they never miss an oil change.  They are also assured of genuine Shell Helix products when purchased through authorised S.H.E.W. workshops and at Shell Petrol station. 

S.H.E.W. remains valid as long as the vehicle continues to use Shell Helix Ultra and Shell Helix HX 7 motor oil every six months or according to the manufacturer’s specified oil change interval, whichever comes first. The warranty is also transferrable to the new vehicle owner to help protect the resale value of the vehicle, provided the new owner maintains copies of the last receipts to prove the continued use of Shell Helix Ultra or Shell Helix HX7.

HOW TO REGISTER A CUSTOMER FOR THEIR FREE WARRANTY
Customer purchases 4-Litres pack of Shell Helix Ultra or Shell Helix HX7 motor oil.Workshop collects a few simple customer details and helps the customer to enrol online for free.
Customers who purchase from a Shell Petrol Station can call S.H.E.W. Customer Hotline at 1800181855 for registration or self-register directly online www.shell.com.my/helixwarranty.
For customers who meet the eligibility, they will receive an SMS confirmation and the Warranty starts 30 days or 1,000 km after enrolment, whichever is later. They will also receive friendly SMS service reminders 1 month before the service is due.

MAKING A CLAIM
Maximum of 1 claim approved every 12 months.
If repair claim is covered by vehicle manufacturer’s official warranty, or any extended service contract/policy, owner cannot collect again from Shell Helix Engine Warranty (S.H.E.W.).
Amount of up to a maximum of RM15,000 (inclusive of GST) per claim in the case of Shell Helix Ultra users, and up to a maximum of RM8,000 (inclusive of GST) per claim in the case of Shell Helix HX7.
To make a claim, the customer can call the S.H.E.W. Customer Hotline at 1800 18 1855. A customer representative will arrange for the vehicle to be assessed at the nearest panel workshop, to ascertain if the issue is linked to the engine oil. If so, the cost of engine repairs will be covered by Shell.
