Parents killed with one child on DUKE highway - All because of a car club convoy and what I believe is another important reason....

This was taken from the Star:-
KUALA LUMPUR: A family of three, including a seven-month-old baby, was killed when the vehicle they were travelling in overturned after it was rammed by a speeding car at the sixth kilometre of the DUKE Highway here.
The impact of the crash resulted in 35-year-old Fairuz Nizam Husain, his wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 27, and their daughter Nur Firuza Annisa being thrown out of their Mitsubishi Pajero Sport four-wheel drive vehicle.

Prior to the 1.05am, Saturday incident, the family had just attended a wedding in Putrajaya and were on the way back home in Batu Taman Batu Muda, Gombak.
Kuala Lumpur staff officer for Traffic Investigation and Regulation Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said investigations revealed that the Pajero was rammed from behind by a speeding Perodua MyVi when attempting to change to the fast lane.
“The driver then lost control of his Pajero before swerving to the left lane and crashing into another MyVi.
“The victims’ vehicle overturned a few times.
“The driver died on the spot while his wife and daughter died at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital during treatment,” he said, adding that the driver of the speeding MyVi escaped uninjured while the other driver suffered a minor injury.
According to several eyewitnesses, a few MyVis were also seen racing on the road before the collision took place.
When met at the mortuary, relatives of the family declined to comment on the incident.
The couple left behind two daughters - Nur Firuza Amira, seven, and Nur Firuza Akila, three.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless driving.
According to other online news portals the Perodua Myvi cars were part of a car club convoy. This is what you should never ever do in a car convoy - race. In fact this is one of the reasons I do not really like to go on car club convoys as they are never proper most of the time. There will always be some prick who is impatient or wants to be a show off. One starts and others will follow. Herd mentality is what it is. Which is why I try to avoid car club convoys like how I would avoid the plague. The six Myvi drivers should be charged for such recklessness.
On another note, It was reported that the impact caused the victims to be thrown out of the vehicle. I get the impression that they were not wearing seatbelts. This is my opinion on why there are bodies on the road.  This most likely is the case for the kid who got killed. Here is a photo of the side of the car. You can see the side curtain airbags were deployed. If the people within were strapped in, I doubt they would be thrown out. Their bodies would be cushioned by the airbags and not exit the cabin. Again, this is my opinion.

Please make sure you wear seatbelts. You may think you are a decent driver but no matter how good you are, some other car may come right at you. The Malaysian mentality of not buckling up, especially having small kids on one's lap HAS GOT TO STOP. I think this is the second such incident where a kid flies out of a car and dies in the past few months here in Malaysia.
This tragedy would not have happened if the Perodua car club convoy participants were just cruising on the highway. But even if they were idiots, the victims should have used their safety restraints. Learn from this people.

If you ask my opinion, they got into crash without any reason or fault of theirs. My uncle works with a Los Angeles DUI attorney and he often tells how teenagers and youngers often get involved into racing and the worst thing is that they are drunk at times and don’t realize what mess they are inviting.
