The TGS 41.480 8x4 rear tipper truck is especially targeted to meet Malaysian mining businesses’ need for a robust and economical transport vehicle that can navigate the rough off-road terrains in mines while ensuring maximum payload. The unveiling was officiated by Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Syed Hamid Bin Syed Jaafar Albar, the Chairman of Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD).

Hartmut Mueller, the Managing Director of MTBM said, “To be able to handle multi-shift operations with maximum daily outputs on unpaved roads and gravel tracks, the transport of seams and ore from open-cast mines calls for a vehicle that is outstandingly rugged, able to take heavy payloads and equipped with powerful engines. The TGS 41.480 truck not only fulfils all these requirements, but is also a reliable partner for your business.”

The 41-tonne payload truck comes with an automated MAN TipMatic® Offroad gearbox that provides an optional gearshift strategy for off-road operation and transmit power to the planetary tandem axles with their 22.5-inch twin tires.  A reinforced sub-frame allows loading up to the permissible maximum payload of 30 tonne and the high-torque six-cylinder in-line Euro 3 engine with up to 480 HP (353 kW) delivers powerful propulsion.

With an emphasis on safety, the truck is fitted with MAN BrakeMatic® electronic brake management and the powerful MAN Exhaust Valve brake.  The electronic stability programme (ESP) is provided as an option.

Apart from the TGS 41.480 8x4, another truck displayed at the MIBTC 2015 was the TGS 28.440 6x2 prime mover truck, which is suitable for long-haul application. Also showcased is MAN’s comprehensive service programs aimed at reducing customers’ Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), which covers key cost factors of owning the vehicle throughout its life-cycle such as fuel, labour and maintenance among others.

"It is our pleasure to be back once again at this second MIBTC to demonstrate our innovative product portfolio and support services for our clients. We recognize that cost of operations are becoming one of the main concerns for many fleet owners, especially in light of the current economic climate. So in this expo, we wish to highlight some of our TCO programs and services that can help address this”, said Mueller.

He explained that one of MAN’s initiatives to help customers to reduce TCO is the MAN ProfiDrive® Training Program. By equipping drivers with better vehicle handling and economical driving techniques, the training can help cut back on fuel consumption by as much as 10 percent and reduce the need for constant vehicle maintenance.

The training not only covers practical driving skills but provides theoretical knowledge as well focusing on areas such as safety, economy and vehicle inspection and is applicable for drivers, fleet managers and vehicle transfer staff. Approximately 7,000 drivers participate in the ProfiDrive training program each year and the program currently has 123 trainers located in 32 countries.

“The continued development of the mining and construction industryis a positive sign for MAN. As the supplier of innovative and reliable commercial vehicles for a 100 years now, we are confident that MAN will be able to continue to deliver reliable, rugged and high quality trucks which guarantees value for money for the industry”, ended Mueller.
